Bio: Retired civil servant based in Nottingham since 1974. Have been blogging since 2009, mainly on historical and architectural discoveries from visits to parish churches spread about the East Midlands counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. Usually accompanied by former work colleagues and town planners Chris Bentley and Fiona Forgham and sometimes by Chris's U3A group from Southwell or by Mrs Gorman. Many of the posts will explore connections between churches and the Bromley House Library in Nottingham, which has been in existence since 1816.

  1. Hi Martin

Good to bump into you at the Bromley a few weeks ago. Should have given you my details so we can try and meet up there for a coffee. See below Terrific blog. Am trying to write up my research on Lord Rancliffe’s mistress Harriott Burtt, but other things keep getting in the way!

  2. Hi Martin,
Really good to meet you and your friends this morning and hope you found St Johns church Mansfield interesting. As we said this morning your group is welcome back anytime.
